SERVICE AREA:

IMEG was hired by an industry leader in thermal cooling technology to measure and develop a current plant layout AutoCAD file, which the customer can then utilize to integrate into the company’s standard operations, as well as develop proposed plant layout to determine the optimal production layout to increase process flow while planning for future growth.

THE PROBLEM

The current layout is not up to date, lacking important production equipment and designated areas
Process flow and overall travel distance efficiencies can be improved
The current layout has an excess amount of unutilized floor space spread throughout the facility, but not enough space in one location to introduce a new production cell
Production cell layouts not optimized for operator and material movement
No centralized production area designated

THE PLAN

Field measure the facility;s columns, exterior walls, man doors, safety equipmen, linesid equipment, raw, WIP, and finished goods materials
Update the current facility layout in AutoCAD and use IMEG's standard layering structure to better organize and manage drawings allowing foreasy navigation and management
Develop detailed layout options with consideration of customer input and movement restrictions, and production area relations
Calculate travel distance and floor space utilization for each layout option
Develop a thorough plant layout analysis the customer can us to compare the current and proposed layout options based on factors including implementation costs and travel distance

THE RESULTS

Centralized space for production equipment and assembly
Reduce overall travel distance of material and operator movement
Improve process flow between production cells
Create available manufacturing space for future growth
Aisle access: center aisle through the whole plant, main production and lab work center forklift access, perimeter aisle
